Fun and Fundraising
We like to help people, even people we don’t know,
which is why we get involved with fitness-related charitable events like the raceforlife and the Playtex Moonwalk. We can also train you for events like the London Marathon, whether you’re doing it for charity or
for the sheer joy of running 26.2 miles.
Crow (Dillon-Parkin, personal trainer) trained a team of nine women from FW Pharma Systems for last year’s raceforlife in Sutton Park. None of the Pharma Systers had done anything like this before, but with Crow’s help they all finished in good condition and excellent spirits. Some of the team walked, and others ran the 5K (about 3.25 miles) and raised over £1,500 for Cancer Research UK in the process.
This year Crow is training a team of 30 women and girls from Fitness First in Solihull (the Fitness First Femmes Fatales) for the raceforlife on 20th July, again at Sutton Park. She’s training runners and walkers, beginners and improvers at all levels. Get in touch if you want to join us. (Please note that raceforlife is for women and girls only.) Crow’s also tackling the Flora Light Challenge for Women’s first visit to Birmingham on 15th September.
The Playtex Moonwalk is a little bit more challenging, as it’s a marathon distance powerwalk with a difference - it’s held at night, and the walkers wear decorated Wonderbras (optional but fun). Men are welcome, and can even wear the bra...
Crow’s Fit Birds team was evenly divided into Full Moonwalkers (26.2 miles) and Half Moonwalkers (13.1 miles) and finished in
reasonable time. Hard work, but for a very worthwhile cause. And one of us (Karen) put on a burst of speed to beat the crowds and ended up coming sixth with an amazing time of 5 hours and 32 minutes - for the Full
Moonwalk! Just shows you how effective and fast Fitness Walking can be.
Revisit this site in a week or so to see the photos!

You can do it if you put your mind to it!
